The Maldon Mud Race has been run on New Years Day for many years but this year, for the first time, its been moved to the summer! Basically, 300 nutters, wait until the tide is low enough and race a course to the other side of the estuary and back again. I think record numbers of spectators turned up and it was extremely crowded but I was lucky enough to be in prime position, in the press enclosure :-) The course gets harder and harder as time goes by, as people churn the mud up, so my tip is, make sure you get around first! Some poor sods had to be towed out! lol The infamous charity fundraiser, Lloyd Scott MBE took part, dressed in a Diving suit and Joel Hicks, went around the course naked! And Debbie from Towie took part too!
